BBC News, Harvard Business Review, The Guardian, etc. Regularly quoted in the world’s leading publications, the 33-year-old Montreal researcher is enjoying an enviable start to his academic career. His “TED Talk” on the “philosophy of time management” given at Concordia University had been viewed online more than half a million times.
UQAM was also pleased at the end of July with an interview given by the professor to the prestigious American magazine The Atlantic. His name has since disappeared from the Uqamian publication.
However, Brad Aeon had already appeared last April at the Montreal courthouse to face a charge of assault against a woman, filed summarily, therefore less serious. The acts were allegedly committed in a marital context.
But on Thursday, four new charges were filed against the researcher. According to the arrest warrant, Brad Aeon is charged with “repeatedly” sexually assaulting a woman between 1er May 2021 and February 28, 2022 in Montreal. He is also accused of assaulting the same woman “repeatedly” and thus inflicting injuries on her. This is the same complainant as in the first case.
UQAM stingy with details
Although visible on Thursday afternoon, Professor Aeon’s page on the university’s website had disappeared on Friday morning following our request for an interview. “This person is no longer employed by UQAM and therefore no longer teaches with us,” commented Jenny Desrochers, UQAM spokesperson, on Friday.
UQAM refuses to say more about the circumstances of Brad Aeon’s departure, claiming the confidentiality of his employee file. It is also impossible to confirm whether a complaint has been filed with UQAM in this case.
“UQAM practices zero tolerance for all forms of violence. The University’s policies are clear and comprehensive in terms of sexual harassment and violence,” said Ms.me Rocks.
Brad Aeon had been a professor at UQAM since July 2021, according to his LinkedIn account. Last spring, the teacher gave a course in “Change management” in the organization and human resources department of the School of Management Sciences at UQAM.
Her areas of expertise at UQAM were “well-being”, “relation to time” and “work-life balance”. In particular, he headed the Time Management Research Institute, and then recently launched his own company in this field.
Brad Aeon taught a course at Concordia University in the fall of 2018 while completing his Ph.D. Last winter, he gave four lectures there on time management. However, he no longer teaches at Concordia University, confirmed a spokesperson for the educational institution.
Brad Aeon’s Facebook motto: “I’ll always have time for you [I’ll always have time for you] “. Thursday again, the researcher summarized on his Facebook page a recent study on the impact of smart phones in our lives.
Questioned by The Press at his residence, Brad Aeon declined to comment. He is due back in court on September 22. His lawyer, Mr.e Adam Ginzburg, also preferred to reserve his comments.
Same silence on the side of the Montreal Police Service, where they say they do not comment on sexual assault files.
