The former swimmer Yannick Agnel was indicted for “rape and sexual assault on a minor of 15 years”, Franceinfo learned Saturday, December 11 from a judicial source. The former Olympic champion was released and placed under judicial supervision, despite the requisition of the provisional detention of the Mulhouse prosecutor’s office.

The former Olympic champion swimming champion was arrested Thursday at noon at his Parisian home on rogatory commission as part of a judicial investigation opened in Mulhouse for “rape and sexual assault on a minor of 15 years”.
The case dates back to 2016, when Yannick Agnel was training at the Mulhouse Olympic Swimming (MON) under the leadership of Lionel Horter. According to information from France Inter, it is one of the daughters of his ex-trainer. The complaint was filed during the summer of 2021, explained the prosecutor of the Republic of Mulhouse, Edwige Roux-Morizot.
“I personally know the person who lodged the complaint so you can imagine that this is something that particularly touches me. The girl’s complaint is now in the hands of the courts, she must go to the end.“, explained on franceinfo the Minister in charge of Sports Roxana Maracineanu.
Yannick Agnel has one of the finest records in French swimming: he was crowned double Olympic champion in London in 2012 over 200m and with the men’s 4x100m relay, then world champion in the same two races in 2013.
