former suburban resident, Vanessa Paradis makes surprising confidences

It was only 8 years old that Vanessa Paradis entered the hearts of the French by taking up the mythical “Emilie Jolie” in the program “L’école des fans” presented by Jacques Martin. A few years later, at just 14, she resurfaced and launched her career with the iconic hit “Joe le taxi” which became number 1 in the top 50 in France and stayed there for 11 weeks!

At the dawn of her 50th birthday, Vanessa Paradis reveals today that the beginning of her career was rather complicated, in particular because her private life was spied on. In the documentary “Haut les filles” broadcast this Thursday, July 14 on Arte, the actress and singer returned to this chaotic time. “The beginnings were very violent. I was 14 and at 14, it’s not going well for anyone. You wonder who we are, who we’re going to become, if we’re good enough. It was horrible, horrible . I lived in the suburbs, I took the RER to go to school in the morning. People looked at me as if I were a caged animal and did not pass any comment aloud next to me. she remembers.

The confidences of Lily-Rose Depp’s mother continue: “I was insulted, I was called all the names of birds. They attacked me on my physique, on my music. On my lack of talent. almost went wrong, but my great luck is to have the parents that I have, extraordinary parents who surrounded me so much and gave me a lot of freedom too”.

Fortunately, the artist was able to overcome all this and her strength of character allowed her to embrace a career in song and comedy while also being a model and muse.
