Sentenced for rape and sexual assault on a European model during his recent trial in Los Angeles (United States), the former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Thursday February 23. For these acts committed in a Beverly Hills hotel in 2013, he faced up to 18 years in prison. The former producer appealed his conviction in Los Angeles.

Harvey Weinstein thus risks ending his days behind bars, because he is already serving a 23-year prison sentence after his conviction in New York in 2020 in another rape and sexual assault case, a conviction which he also did call.

This second trial for Harvey Weinstein, whose fall in 2017 freed the speech of many women and spawned the #MeToo movement, saw four women testify anonymously against him. The trial ended with a split verdict. Jurors found Harvey Weinstein guilty of all charges brought by the European model. On the other hand, they declared him not guilty regarding those of a second woman, and did not formulate a verdict regarding the allegations made by the other two complainants.
