Former Liberal MP Yves St-Denis is no longer

The former Liberal MP for Argenteuil, Yves St-Denis, is no more. He died a few days ago from a brain tumor while on vacation in the Dominican Republic at the age of 60.

This was confirmed by relatives and members of his entourage on social networks. “Life has unjustly taken from us a great man. A dad, a son, a brother, a cousin, a great boyfriend. No words can soothe the sudden loss of a loved one,” testified his son and daughter, Alexandre St-Denis and Gabrielle St-Denis, in a joint message on social networks.

“His loss leaves a huge void in our lives. Let’s fill this void with all the beautiful memories, his advice, his little touches and his humor. Dad [on] love you, think we will miss you. Have a good trip,” they added, remembering “his 60th birthday party where he was able to say goodbye to everyone,” at the beginning of last December.

According to several media, the former provincial elected official died on January 19 following pre-surgical complications due to a brain tumor of which he was unaware. He was diagnosed with the illness and bleeding in a hospital in the Dominican Republic.

A former businessman involved in several companies, Mr. St-Denis was until recently a mortgage broker at Multi-Prêts Hypothèques. His last publication on this subject dates back to January 15, when he proudly highlighted having made a mortgage loan “at 35,000 feet”, in full flight.

In the past, he was notably president of the Chamber of Commerce of Terrebonne, then of the Chamber of Commerce of Les Moulins, at the end of the 90s. He was also at the head of the Commission scolaire des Affluents for more than ten years.

He was elected deputy for Argenteuil in April 2014, with the liberal government of Philippe Couillard. His mandate was notably marked by his position as parliamentary assistant to the Minister responsible for Labor, Dominique Vien, between 2016 and 2018.

Yves St-Denis was then expelled from the Quebec Liberal Party caucus in 2018 following a sexual misconduct case. A political employee then alleged that she had received an explicit photo of a sexual act from the MP. Shortly after, the MP was defeated in the last elections while running as an independent candidate.

In August 2019, the deceased was also found guilty of sexually assaulting a Laurentides municipal councilor in 2017. He was then sentenced to a conditional discharge and community service at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.
