The first North American journalist to cover the Tour de France, who became the main desk chief and professor of journalism before his retirement, the former journalist of The Press Pierre Beaulieu died at the age of 75 at the beginning of December, his family announced Monday.
The journalist and critic began his career at Montreal Journal before moving on to The Press in the 1970s. First attached to the Sports section, he was the first North American journalist to cover the Tour de France, in 1973.
