Former Junior Team Canada players accused of sexual assault will be in court Monday

The sexual assault case involving the five 2018 Junior Team Canada players is expected to go to court in London, Ontario, starting Monday.

Legal documents indicate that Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod will all be charged with sexual assault.

These documents also specify that Michael McLeod will be subject to an additional charge “for his participation in a criminal act”.

The charges that will be filed relate to allegations of sexual assault made by a person, identified by the initials “EM”, on June 19, 2018.

Lawyers for each of the players have indicated that their clients intend to dispute the allegations.

The London Police Service plans to hold a news conference regarding its investigation into this case Monday afternoon.

Dube, Hart, McLeod and Foote all play in the NHL. Formenton, who has already worn the Ottawa Senators uniform, played until very recently in Switzerland.

The players who will be charged have all obtained permission from their respective clubs to be absent for an indefinite period.
