(Ottawa) Joyce Napier, a longtime Ottawa journalist, will visit the Vatican as Canada’s new ambassador.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, announced the appointment of Ms.me Napier and said she would work to advance reconciliation with Indigenous people in this new role, “including addressing the painful legacy of the residential school system.”
During M’s 40-year careerme Napier as a journalist, she worked at La Presse Canadienne, CBC, The Globe and Mail, The PressRadio-Canada and CTV.
She is the only one to have been head of parliamentary bureau for both an English and French network.
Joyce Napier’s biography states that she was born in Montreal and raised in Rome, before returning to Canada as an adult.
She speaks French, English and Italian as well as a little Spanish and Arabic.
