Edwin van der Sar will remain in intensive care. The former Dutch goalkeeper is “in a stable but still worrying condition“, said Saturday, July 8, Ajax Amsterdam, of which he was the general manager until last May. While on vacation in Croatia, Van der Sar, 52, was the victim of a a cerebral hemorrhage on Friday.”The Van der Sar family, like Ajax, is grateful and deeply touched by the many messages of support“, added the club.

Van der Sar is one of the great glories of Dutch football, the second most capped player in the Oranje selection with 130 caps. With the latter, he notably obtained third place at Euro 2000 and 2004. Trained at Ajax where he shone for almost all of the 90s, he was also one of the pillars of Manchester United between 2005 and 2011. With the Red Devils, the porter won four Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.

When he retired in 2011, he joined the management team of Ajax Amsterdam, first as marketing director, before becoming general manager last May.
