The former chancellor, who announced his decision in a short message on the professional network LinkedIn, said to himself “surprised” by the publication in the German media of articles claiming that he had been officially appointed by Gazprom to a post on Tuesday. This announcement comes four days after that of his departure from the Russian oil company Rosneft, of which he was chairman of the board.
