The former defender of the France team Benjamin Mendy is now charged with seven rapes and sexual assault. His trial was postponed.

The Benjamin Mendy affair continues to gain momentum. As the Manchester City player was brought to court on Wednesday 22 December, Chester Crown Court revealed the player was facing a seventh rape charge.
The trial in the Benjamin Mendy case postponed at best to June 27, 2022. The prosecution and the defense need time. New preliminary hearing on January 7 where the issue of bail could again be considered.

The judge also announced a change in the date of the trial, originally scheduled for January 24, with the defense and prosecution needing time to study the case. The trial won’t take place until June 27, 2022, at best. In the meantime, a new hearing is scheduled for January 7, where the issue of bail can be considered.
The 27-year-old defender was already charged with six rapes and one sexual assault. Incarcerated since the end of August at Altcourse prison, he had made several requests for parole which were all refused. He was last heard by justice on Thursday 18 November.
