Former first lady Rosalynn Carter joins her husband in palliative care

(Washington) Former first lady of the United States Rosalynn Carter, 96, will now receive palliative care at home, alongside her husband who is also at the end of his life, the Carter Center announced Friday.


The former first lady and President Carter spend time together and with their families. The Carter family continues to request respect for their privacy and is grateful for all the expressions of love and support received,” said the foundation managing the image and legacy of Jimmy Carter.

The 99-year-old former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner has been receiving palliative care since February at the couple’s home in Plains, Georgia.

Having served in the White House from 1977 to 1981, for a single term, he is the oldest living American president.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter were married in 1946.
