Who will succeed Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street? On Friday July 8, former British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak announced his candidacy to replace the resigning Prime Minister at the head of the Conservative Party, and thus at the head of the government in the United Kingdom.

At 42, Rishi Sunak is considered one of the favorites to replace Boris Johnson across the Channel. The former finance minister was one of the first to announce his resignation on Tuesday, along with his health counterpart, Sajid David. These departures took place in a context of repeated scandals, shortly after Boris Johnson’s public apology over the February appointment of Chris Pincher to his government. This last quit last weekafter being accused of touching two men.
The resignations of Sajid David and Rishi Sunak triggered a series of departures of more or less senior members of the executive, which ended on Thursday with the resignation of Boris Johnson.
