Former cyclist Geneviève Jeanson joins the Sport’Aide team

The directors of Sport’Aide have announced the appointment of former cyclist Geneviève Jeanson as spokesperson for this organization, which offers a listening, support and orientation service to victims and witnesses of violence committed in sports context.

In her role as co-spokesperson for the organization and its various awareness programs, the former Olympic athlete will join her speech to those of Cindy Ouellet, participant in the Paralympic Games (wheelchair basketball and Para-Nordic skiing), and of Antony Auclair, who played in the National Football League.

According to Sylvain Croteau, managing director of Sport’Aide, this collaboration was the most logical.

“From our first meeting, almost a year ago, there was no doubt that Geneviève could inspire,” Croteau said in a press release.

“I had before me a woman who, over the years, had succeeded in rebuilding herself and who today is capable of recounting her experience without falling into victimization. It went without saying that Geneviève, who herself has experienced all types of violence in sport, joins Cindy and Antony in our various awareness tools and activities. Her background gives her all the necessary relevance to discuss the various issues related to the practice of healthy and safe sport,” he added.

For Geneviève Jeanson, who says she feels challenged by Sport’Aide’s mission, this collaboration resonates because of her personal story.

“I am very proud to join the Sport’Aide team in order to promote its approach which aims to prevent and counter violence in sports, a phenomenon which unfortunately taints the sporting experience of too many people”, a- she pointed out in the press release.

“This is why we must — all together — act and be more responsible for our actions and words. I really want to meet young and old to discuss these issues, because we all have a role to play in ensuring that our sports environments are healthy, safe and motivating. »
