Former chief of the defense staff, General Jonathan Vance, pleaded guilty to one charge of obstruction of justice.
Mr. Vance’s lawyer, Rodney Sellar, confirmed the plea during a virtual court appearance on Wednesday morning.
Military police charged the former commander of the Canadian Armed Forces in July, alleging in court papers that Mr Vance repeatedly contacted a woman in February 2021 and “tried to persuade her to make false statements about their relationship passed” to military investigators.
Further details will follow.
