Former Canadiens player Colin White agrees to contract with San Jose Barracuda

(San Jose) Former Montreal Canadiens forward Colin White has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks, San Jose Barracuda general manager Joe Will announced Tuesday.

“Colin will bring a wealth of experience in the AHL and NHL to the Barracuda,” Will said. “He will add depth at center and we’re excited to have him on board.”

White, who is 27, played 17 games with the Habs last season, being limited to two penalty minutes and a minus-3 differential. The Canadiens claimed him off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 22.

The six-foot-one, 194-pound player has 44 goals and 69 assists in 320 career NHL regular-season games with the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, Penguins and Canadiens. He also has two assists in 22 NHL playoff games.

White was selected in the first round, 21e overall by the Senators in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
