Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson writes his memoirs

(London) Brexit, COVID-19 and “partygate”: Boris Johnson is writing his memoirs to deliver the story of his tumultuous years as head of the British government, publisher HarperCollins announced on Monday.

“I look forward to working with Boris Johnson as he writes his account of his time in office during some of the most significant events the UK has seen in recent history,” said Arabella Pike, Director of publication by William Collins (HarperCollins), promising memoirs “like no other”.

No date has been announced for the release of the book, while the 58-year-old ex-prime minister is frequently mocked for his long-awaited biography of Shakespeare.

Coming to power in July 2019, Boris Johnson carried out Brexit, won an unprecedented majority since the 1980s, led the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, a virus which nearly cost him his life, before a succession of scandals which were eventually forced to resign.

Once again a backbench MP, he is still under a parliamentary inquiry into the Downing Street holiday affair in breach of anti-COVID-19 rules, which threatens his return ambitions.
