The former Minister of Sports, Marie-Georges Buffet and the former athletics champion, Stéphane Diagana, submitted 37 proposals to the government on Thursday, December 7 to strengthen ethics and democratic life in sport. Among the proposals, they wish to establish “an independent administrative authority” to prevent and treat gender-based and sexual violence in sport.

A proposal which does not reach consensus with the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra but Stéphane Diagana, former athletics champion, defends himself: “We can imagine that there could be at certain times a kind of pressure not to release certain cases”, “we choose to put the window before the victim and I think that an independent administrative authority may be the right solution”he declared on Sunday on Franceinfo.

Among the other proposals mentioned, the desire to revitalize federal democratic life. “We suggested that there should be a right of initiative for clubs,” explains Stéphane Diagana.
