Former host Pierre Marcotte died Wednesday evening from the consequences of COVID-19.

The 83-year-old man died in the early evening at the Quebec Cardiology and Pulmonology Institute, following complications related to COVID-19.
He is survived by his spouse Denise Plouffe, and his two sons, Bruno-Pierre and Pascal Marcotte.
Pierre Marcotte, born November 25, 1938, began his career as a radio host, notably at CKVL in Montreal. His television career began by co-hosting several quiz shows and variety shows with Claude Boulard.
His popularity will explode, however, when he joins the comedy show The Tanners, at Télé-Métropole in the 1970s. He co-hosted the show with, among others, Shirley Théroux, Joël Denis, Roger Giguère, Gilles Latulippe, Paolo Noël, Christine Chartrand and Anne Renée. He would subsequently host several shows in the 1990s and 2000s.
Early in his career, Pierre Marcotte married singer Ginette Ravel with whom they have a son, Pascal. After a divorce, he married his colleague Shirley Théroux, with whom he had a second son, Bruno-Pierre.
Alongside his career as an animator, Pierre Marcotte was the manager of Restaurant Hélène-de-Champlain, on Île Sainte-Hélène, in Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, for more than 25 years. He left restaurant management in 2010.
