It will once again be permitted to light open fires in or near forests from Thursday noon in Quebec, where all blazes are now under control.
The ban had been in place since July 29, SOPFEU recalled in a press release issued Thursday.
Five forest fires are currently active in the intensive protection zone, “but the firefighting operations are progressing smoothly, and all the fires are under control,” SOPFEU said.
Since the start of the forest fire season in Quebec, 252 fires have affected 16,946 hectares of forest.
