“The Spanish Inn”, “Russian Dolls”, “Chinese Puzzle”… 21 years after the first part of the saga, Cédric Klapisch is embarking on a series called “Greek Salad”, which features the children of first characters.

For Xavier, alias Romain Duris, Athens is a bit old. twenty years later The Spanish inn, his children follow in his footsteps. An Erasmus version 2023 roommate adventure, in series this time. “In a series, there is more time for character development (…) There is this notion at the end of the episode to make the viewer want to continue”explains Cédric Klapisch.

A youth in search of itself

The director will always talk about subjects that are dear to him, such as living together. From Young Peril in 1994, the filmmaker dedicated his career to young people looking for themselves: “When you’re between 20 and 30, you wonder what job you’re going to do, who you’re going to live with. You ask yourself a lot of questions and that’s when I’m interested.” For Romain Duris, “It’s a talent of Cédric to always be attentive to what is happening. He describes a youth that is much more involved and aware of the era in which they are growing up.” Environment, aid to refugees, the issues addressed differ without losing the director’s optimistic touch.
