“For the hostages, for the families, we need a ceasefire”, the mother of a hostage held by Hamas fights against anxiety

From her village in Tarn, the mother of a hostage held by Hamas continues to hope for the release of her son, Orion, a 32-year-old Franco-Mexican from whom she has had no news since October 7, the day of the deadly attack of Hamas in Israel.

Among the 132 hostages still held by Hamas, Orion Hernandez Radoux, a young 32-year-old Franco-Mexican. Orion was attending the Tribe of Nova music festival on October 7 when Hamas fighters attacked. With two friends he tried to flee, in vain.

Her mother Marie-Pascale Radoux, a painter living in the Tarn in Labastide-Saint-Georges, tries to stay on her feet and cope with this long anguish. Three months passed without any certainty about her son’s state of health.

She is now calling on the Israeli government and Hamas and demanding a ceasefire.

“For the hostages, for the civilians, for the children, for the families and for these hundreds and hundreds of innocent people, there must be a ceasefire”

During the attack of Hamas on October 7, 1,140 people were killed according to an AFP count based on the Israeli toll. The Israeli counterattack has since caused more than 23,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.

In this conflict this mother no longer has any news from her son. No signs of life. An endless wait “I ask Hamas to take care of my son, because he had psychological weaknesses”she specifies.

Orion Hernandez-Radoux is reportedly being held in Gaza. A painful conditional since even if the Israeli authorities count him among the hostages, no sign of life has reached his mother. His only hope, this call made by Hamas to a friend of the young man “to say that he was fine, that we don’t worry, that he was with them but that they weren’t mistreating him” says Marie-Pascale Radoux.

It is this call that pushes her to move heaven and earth to try to find her son. To locate him, have him released or at least have news and proof of life. “As long as I know every day that I can do something for him, it keeps me on my feet. The days when nothing happens are terrible. Hyperactivity allows me not to sink into anguish and anxiety”she confided in a fragile voice.

A terrible anguish that is sometimes soothed by the messages of support, the messages of hope received from Orion’s friends. ” That helps to know that there are so many people waiting and wishing for my son’s return. But the longer the time, the more complicated it becomes.. A time that passes and which she hopes does not plunge her distress and that of the hostages into oblivion.
