From his cabaret years, Patrick Sébastien retains incredible memories. For more than twenty years, the most incredible artists paraded on the stage that he had installed on France 2 in 1998. Unfortunately, all the shows did not take place in an idyllic way. This incident had occurred during a rehearsal, during a late afternoon. “Everything went well, despite my superstition. In our artistic professions, the color green is said to bring bad luck. That’s what the legend says. Whether true or false, I have always been intransigent on this use, recalls Patrick Sébastien, recently separated from Nana. No green in my shows!“. And yet, a troupe of Russian acrobats had not heard of this golden rule, and had landed in his cabaret all dressed in green: “It was that or cancel their performance. So I had to resolve that the number is done with these outfits. Predicting that there was surely going to be a problem.“

Whether one is superstitious or not, it is clear that the coincidence is formidable. At the end of the rehearsal, one of the famous acrobats collapsed during the broadcast of the title Sardines. “We stop the music. I rush. He is livid and unconscious. The firefighters will come. It’s the heart remembers Lily’s dad. For more than an hour, they will try to revive him. Ppresenting the program in the evening was particularly difficult. I was racked with guilt. Even though I was told that the man had a health history that presaged this kind of stroke at any time. For me, it was my song that killed him. It was Patrick Sébastien who had to take care of calling, by telephone, the widow of the deceased. She had assured him, in all her sadness, that her husband had, thanks to him, the most beautiful end that an artist could wish: to die on stage…
