Lula tackles Neymar. After the Brazilian football star gave his support to the far-right head of state, Jair Bolsonaro, the left-wing presidential candidate, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, said that this support was self-serving. “I think he is afraid that if I win the election, I will know what Bolsonaro forgave him [au sujet] of his debt [en matière] income tax”said Lula, in an interview with the YouTube channel Flow Podcast.
“It is obvious that Bolsonaro made an agreement with the father [de Neymar]. Now he has tax problems in Spain”, added Lula. The latter refers to the favorable decisions that the PSG player obtained in a tax evasion case in Brazil, and the trial in Barcelona for tax irregularities during his transfer to Barça in 2013.
Lula won the first round of the election on October 2 with 48% of the vote, five points ahead of the far-right president. The second round will take place on October 30. While most footballers chose not to make the name of their favorite candidate public, Neymar threw his support behind Bolsonaro ahead of the first round.
