It’s the end of an era, the beginning of another that we hope will be long and thrilling: AJ Auxerre returns to Ligue 1 after eight seasons in Ligue 2. The Auxerrois beat Saint-Etienne in the play-offs at the end of may. AJA’s first match is therefore away, in Lille on Sunday at 3 p.m. for the first day of the championship. After six weeks of preparation, friendly matches and recruitment, the Auxerrois intend to settle in Ligue 1. During the pre-match press conference on Friday, Jean-Marc Furlan, the Auxerrois coach did concede that the season would not be easy for the promoted AJA.
