Mythical venue, the Margraves Opera of Bayreuth in Germany, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, welcomes musicians from the Pays de Savoie Orchestra on Saturday June 8 for an exceptional concert as part of the Musica Bayreuth festival.
“This tour is really exceptional because we have a city, which is a bit of a Mecca for classical music, which welcomes us with this festival, and we are going to play at the Margraves opera (…) so it it’s really grandiose“, rejoices Julie Mestre, the general director of the Orchester des Pays de Savoie.
“It is a source of pride for the orchestra to be able to play in such a legendary place, in Bayreuth, it is after all the city of Wagner. And it’s true that for us, it’s a somewhat unexpected opportunity.“, adds Marie-Noëlle Aninat, violinist, who joined the orchestra in 1989.
On the program for this exceptional concert, Mozart, Haydn, Rameau and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The musicians will be led by harpsichordist Bruno Procopio. “The advantage of playing the harpsichord is that this instrument doesn’t sound much, but it is very percussive. So as a result, I don’t have a harmonic role, although it is a harmonic instrument, but I have a rhythmic role. So I would say that I am the drum of the orchestra, it serves to give impetus and liveliness. I do not show by my hand, but by my sound“, explains the conductor.
A beautiful gift in any case for the Orchester des Pays de Savoie which is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this season.
