The vein was soon widely exploited in official club shops. Today the reissues are everywhere, as for example at FC Metz, which has pulled out its 1984 jersey, the year when the Garnets brought down the great Barcelona in the European Cup.
It is also a way to diversify income. “HASWith this kind of product, we reach another part of FC Metz supporters”, acknowledges Julie Decker. She takes care of communication and marketing of the club. “These are people who don’t necessarily want to buy the club’s new shirts, but who want products that are a little more ‘fashionable’ than the classic shirts, which are more marked clothing for sport.” In one week, the half of the stock of vintage FC Metz jerseys has been sold out.
