Frédéric Valletoux, Minister Delegate in charge of Health and Prevention, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Tuesday February 13.

Many French people live in medical deserts. “It will take a few years. We can think that between five and seven years, things will undoubtedly become even more tense before larger generations of young doctors arrive”explains Frédéric Valletoux, Minister Delegate in charge of Health and Prevention, guest of the 4 Truths from France 2, Tuesday February 13.

How to explain this situation ? “The number one subject is really a demographic subject. We have removed the numerus clausus, today there are 20% more students in the second year [de médecine] than there were three years ago. We can see that this is going back up, but we don’t train a doctor like that in a snap.”specifies the Minister Delegate in charge of Health and Prevention.

Consultation with local doctor at €30: “I’m in favor”

Will there still be discussions on the remuneration of nurses and caregivers? “We come from very far away. […] Gradually, there are undoubtedly other efforts to be made over time.indicates Frédéric Valletoux.

Last week, Health Insurance proposed increasing the consultation with a local doctor from €26.50 to €30. “These are discussions that have not come to fruition. […] I am in favor of it, it must also be with a commitment from doctors, from the moment we relieve them of administrative time, from the moment the State makes the effort to support them through medical assistants, […] maybe they need to commit to taking more patients. So there is a discussion about the compensation for this €30, but this sum is legitimate”estimates the Minister Delegate in charge of Health and Prevention.

Will there be any obligations? “The obligation will be the last decision if we notice a deficiency, because in the territories we have not been able to organize improved continuous care”adds Frédéric Valletoux.
