For Benjamin Castaldi, Marilyn Monroe “harassed Yves Montand on the phone!

He may not have returned for yet another season on the set of Do not touch My TV,Benjamin Castaldi has been the talk of the town since the start of the school year! The reason ? Cyril Hanouna’s former sidekick began a media tour on the occasion of the release of Bungalow 21 this Thursday, September 14, 2023. A play written by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt and an original idea… of his own.

A fictional work through which Marilyn Monroe and Simone Signoret meet… And for good reason, although the two icons that there is no point in presenting do not have much in common, they both had a love affair with Yves Montand.

While he was already in a relationship with Benjamin Castaldi’s grandmother, the actor and singer actually had an affair with the American star. A prank that Simone Signoret forgave Yves Montand. Even more, the latter had also forgiven Marilyn Monroe, her friend. “There was a real bond between the two. My grandmother spent a lot of time talking with her, laughing with her. And above all, she was always asking her to tell her stories from filming”also recounted the former columnist of TPMP on the waves of South Radio.

Marilyn Monroe and Yves Montand: a one-sided love?

As part of a filmed interview given to the Instagram account of Yahoo Pop, Benjamin Castaldi and returned to the affair that his adoptive grandfather had with Marilyn Monroe… And against all expectations, Simon Castaldi’s father made it known that it was not a great love story.

“For Marlyn, I don’t think it was a love affair. For Montand, it was fleeting… I can’t tell you everything he told me about Marylin, but if she had ticked all the boxes , he probably would have stayed with her. There were a few missing, I’ll let you guess which ones”he recalled before telling an anecdote to illustrate his point:

“In 1960, he returned from Los Angeles […] and she had sent him dozens of telegrams, she harassed him on the phone. He didn’t respond to anything. So he returned to France and at the time there was no direct flight from Los Angeles to Paris. So there is a stopover in New York. And there is a bomb threat. So, was this a bomb threat that was made by Marilyn? History will tell us… or not. The fact is, he is in a carafe in New York and she comes to pick him up in a Limousine. They leave to tour Manhattan and she begs him for hours to stay, that she loves him and that he is the man of her life, that without him she will not be able to live. Profusion of feeling, he says nothing. They return to the airport and she tells him: ‘But why are you leaving?’ and he answers him ‘because I don’t love you’, said Benjamin Castaldi. It probably couldn’t be clearer!
