I chose my path
I want the CCP to be a national alternative to the Trudeau government.
That is why I have proposed policies that respond to the concerns of Canadians, particularly with regard to inflation, housing, health and the environment.
Today, I am proud to unveil my platform. It contains a solid plan to emerge from the pandemic crisis, tackle inflation and grow the economy.
It is urgent that we reduce the cost of living and regain control of our public finances, which Mr. Trudeau has been unable to do.
This is not only about the finances of the country, but about the finances of Canadians.
I’ve faced such a storm before
When I was Premier of Quebec, I considerably mitigated the impact of the 2008 global economic crisis on public finances. As a result, Quebec had a better economic record than the rest of Canada, the United States and Europe.
The plan that I propose is the result of a method that has already been tested. It is the result of rigorous management of public finances and the concern to offer quality programs and services.
First of all, I want to lower personal income tax so that they find enough leeway to make ends meet, buy their first home and retire in the best possible conditions.
I also want to reduce the size of the state by reducing the number of civil servants, unnecessary spending and the growth of spending so that these are below nominal GDP. It is notably thanks to such measures that we will regain control of public spending and that we will fight against inflation.
Finally, the economy needs to be further stimulated. In addition to promoting energy projects, such as GNL Québec, and improving labor mobility, we must rethink our industrial strategy and support innovation.
Canadian researchers and businesses need to be given far more means to create, deliver and commercialize ideas that will increase economic prosperity and improve our standard of living.
We also need to introduce more competitiveness between companies and service providers.
I have the experience and maturity to achieve such goals. I have already balanced a government’s public finances while improving the quality of programs and services.
In a nutshell, I have an economic plan that will put Canada back on track.
My plan will allow the Conservatives to be a national alternative to Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, to win the next federal election and, above all, to find the path to unity and prosperity.
