Ware, a defensive end who holds the Dallas Cowboys quarterback sack record, will enter Canton in his second year of eligibility. Having appeared in nine Pro Bowl games, he was also elected to the All-Star Team of the 2000s.
Offensive lineman Joe Thomas, who spent all 10 seasons of his career with the Cleveland Browns, didn’t have to wait long to join the Temple. Like cornerback Darrelle Revis, he was in his first year on the ballots.
Howley had to wait 45 years before receiving the call of the pantheon. He became the first defensive player to be named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player in 1971.
Footballers Rondé Barber, Joe Klecko, Ken Riley and Zach Thomas, as well as coach Don Coryell are also part of the 2023 vintage. The induction ceremony will take place on August 5.
