The UAF, the Union of Football Actors, will sponsor Cyril Linette, franceinfo learned from a source close to the case, confirming information from RMC. This sponsorship will allow the former sports director of Canal+ to be able to run for the presidency of the LFP, on September 10, against the outgoing president Vincent Labrune.
The resigning Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra has notably put pressure on the UAF so that another candidate can run against Vincent Labrune. Cyril Linette, 53, was not initially chosen by the UAF, which brings together the associations and professional unions representing all the players in French football (players, coaches and educators, referees, doctors, administrators and similar professions).
The UAF has not yet communicated and sent the sponsorships, but it will support four players: Vincent Labrune, Karl Olive, Alain Guerrini and therefore Cyril Linette. Vincent Labrune, Karl Olive and Cyril Linette have also obtained the sponsorships of Foot Unis, the professional football union, a sine qua non condition to be able to apply for the presidency of the LFP. Karl Olive, an independent candidate designated by the FFF, has already indicated that he will not seek the presidency of the League.
