Last season’s NBA scoring champion was injured March 16 in a game against the Boston Celtics. He has since missed seven games and is due for reassessment in a week. An update on his situation is expected on April 11. According to the Warriors organization on Friday, Curry is progressing well.
He has participated in rehabilitation drills with medical staff in the team’s training hall for the past two weeks. However, Curry hasn’t stepped on the court yet. A stage that should come next week, but only solo. It has not been specified when he is expected to join the squad in training.
Head coach Steve Kerr says he has full confidence that Curry will be able to come back quickly to help the team in the playoffs once he’s back on his feet.
“Steph has been injured a number of times in the past, both before and during the playoffs, and he’s always come back in good shape so I’m not too worried about him. All he needs is one shot and he’s back,” Kerr said.
In the game against the Celtics, Curry was injured with 4:19 left in the second quarter as he tried to recover a loose fly ball. Marcus Smart dived on the play to try to recover the ball as well, but landed on the foot of the double player par excellence. Curry got to his feet and winced in pain, then limped off for a moment before leaving the game on the next stoppage.
The Warriors eventually lost the game 110-88. Then, in the absence of their leader, they show a record of only one victory in seven games.
