Foodwatch will file a complaint for “deception”

While the investigation unit of Radio France and the newspaper “Le Monde” revealed on Tuesday that several bottled water producers had illegally filtered their water, the information director of Foodwatch announced that a complaint would be filed.

“I announce to you that Foodwatch will file a complaint for deception”indicates, Tuesday January 30, on France Inter Ingrid Kragl, director of information of the NGO, after the revelations of the investigation unit of Radio France and the newspaper The world. According to this investigation, Nestlé and other manufacturers hid from the public that the water they pumped was contaminated. To continue bottling it, they used banned purification systems.

This investigation also reveals that the government was aware of the affair since August 2021. “Our complaint will demand accountability from economic actors” has “all the companies which played with the law but also with the authorities who will have to be held accountable”. This water was treated with ultraviolet and activated carbon.

“We will also question the numerous violations of the Public Health Code”because “on the bacteriological and microbiological risks, the authorities will have to shed light” on “what they knew and what the checks revealed”. However “we are not going to die from consuming this water”adds Ingrid Kragl.

“How is it that the French state, according to the investigation, was aware and that these products were marketed even though they contravene the regulations?” asked the NGO’s information director.
