The price of cauliflower has doubled in one year, due to significantly lower production than in previous years. In Brittany, the leading producing region of this vegetable, bad weather has caused harvests to drop.
In winter, cauliflower is one of the most popular vegetables. But this year, cauliflower is reaching record prices, at four euros per piece on average on a market in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). Unheard of for consumers. In one year, prices have doubled due to bad weather which caused harvests to fall, particularly in Brittany, the leading cauliflower producing region.
Demand exceeds supply
Emmanuelle Dantec cultivates 40 hectares of cauliflowers in the Côtes-d’Armor. With the floods it lost in 2023 A third of its production.
