For five years, the Nutri-score, this labeling system ranging from the letter A to E, has indicated the nutritional quality of products. Since its gradual and non-mandatory introduction, has this indicator had any consequences on our way of consuming?

In five years with the Nutri-scorepaying attention to your diet has become child’s play. Displayed on the packaging of most products, the nutritional index influences consumer choice. “It’s E so I wouldn’t take”said a woman about a packet of cookies. “We try to have a balanced diet and therefore it is important for us in the choice of food we will buy”explains a man.

In five years with the Nutri-scoreclose to 60% of French have changed their eating habits. Some manufacturers are therefore reviewing their recipes because Posting a good rating boosts product sales. To reward the healthiest foods, the calculation of the index is changing and will be revised downwards for red meats, prepared meals or sugary cereals. Oily fish, oil, whole grains and certain cheeses will see their rating improve. The creator of this index now wants to see the Nutri-score penalize processed products.
