The African continent is not spared from rising prices. In Dakar, the cost of basic foodstuffs has soared.

The war in Ukraine raises fears of a food crisis in Africa. In Senegal, as on the rest of the continent, the prices of basic foodstuffs have soared. The rise had not waited for the conflict, but it has aggravated the situation. On the Dakar market, essential products, often imported from neighboring countries, have seen their prices double in one year. Rice, wheat, flour are particularly affected. A situation that is all the more difficult for people to live with as the Ramadan fast approaches.

In the capital, Dakar, the water supply is also a matter of concern. In a rapidly urbanizing city of 4 million people, the water supply network is no longer sufficient to meet population growth. The inhabitants are therefore forced to ration themselves or find public water supply points.
