Food: Intermarché withdraws water from Danone group brands in some of its stores

After sunflower oil or mustard, several major brands of bottled water will become rare in certain supermarkets of the Intermarché group. This time, it is because of the price asked by the Danone group, owner of several brands of water.

In the water section, some brands have become untraceable, removed from the shelves by the Intermarché brand. In a store in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine)other products replaced brands Volvic, Evian or Badoitfrom the Danone group. “We prefer to stop waters that are extremely expensive, and put waters that are competitive, and that meet the purchasing power of our customers”explains Valéry Nguyen, store manager.

In the absence of a commercial agreement, the Intermarché group decided to no longer order this water from the manufacturer. Results : customers have fewer choices. Contacted, the Danone group justifies the increase in its prices: “We are affected by inflation and more particularly by the rising cost of energy, transport and raw materials. Friday, September 16, according to the brand, these products would be absent from the shelves in four stores Intermarketed on ten.
