Faced with the decline in donations and ever-increasing numbers of beneficiaries, volunteers from the Food Bank are embarking on a spring collection in several departments of France.
Due to lack of food, Dominique Le Calvez, volunteer at the Vannes Food Bank (Morbihan), is looking for donations for the breakfasts: “coffee, chocolate, sugar, milk, then cereal”, he lists. “We place emphasis on this type of product, since it is important for these people, that they can have a quality breakfast, with good vitamins, allowing them to have a good day”explains the latter.
A spring collection for the first time
Every year, Food Banks organize their national collection on the last weekend of November in stores throughout France. In 2024, for the first time, a spring collection is organized in several departments, due to the drop in donations and the increase in the number of beneficiaries. Between 2020 and 2023, the association recorded an increase of more than 34% in passages.
