The Agricultural Show will close on Sunday March 6. This year again, the Food Bank, which fights against precariousness, launched a vast operation to collect unsold foodstuffs.

In pairs and in orange chasubles, the Food Bank volunteers are not there to admire the cows. Their objective during the Show: harvest as much food as possible. They approach the food industry as a priority. An exhibitor undertakes to provide around a ton of dairy products. It is essential for us to be at the Salon de l’agriculture, because we have seen an increase in demand over the past two years”says Laurence fieldFederal Director of Food Banks.

To prevent perishable products from ending up in the trash, dozens of volunteers are helping to salvage anything that can be salvaged, such as the plant-based Eiffel Tower, from the interprofession fruit and vegetable stand. In the evening, in the bays of the Show emptied of its visitors, tens of kilos of fruit and vegetables will join the harvest of the day: cold meats and cheeses, which were presented the same day at the general agricultural competition. The Food Bank hopes to reach 10 tons of food collected this year, to meet demand.
