From Sunday October 1, bakers will have to put less salt in their bread, in an effort for public health. The 13 Heures collected the reactions of a baker, this morning of Thursday September 28, near Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes).

The National Bakery Confederation is asking bakers to put less salt in their baguettes from Sunday October 1st. A baker from Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes) is not convinced, this morning of Thursday September 28. “We have already reduced three grams, but I think more would be a mistake”believes Thierry Valatbaker at “Chris and co“.

Customers divided

On October 1, bakers must commit to limiting salt to 1.4 grams per 100 grams of traditional bread, and even 1.3 grams for special breads. A new weight which will constrain Thierry Valat to review the making of its breads. In his store, some customers also have little taste for these new regulations. Others, however, are ready to see the taste of their bread change. An effort for public health, while bread represents 20% of our daily salt intake.
