8:58 p.m. : Jamel Debbouze takes stock of French cinema “who suffers”. It identifies the “problems” of the seventh art: the price of seats and the script of auteur films. “Vincent Lindon walks languorously towards Juliette Binoche… at ‘languorously’, we emptied the room”, he says. The actor was surprised since the actress answered him, with a smile.

8:49 p.m. : Jamel does his stand-up and provides. He teases Virginie Efira who has never won the César for best actress, although she has already been nominated five times.

8:52 p.m. : It’s time for the 48th ceremony and it’s Jamel Debbouze who opens the ceremony. We will have recognized The Next Episode by Dr. Dre on soundtrack.

8:43 p.m. : At the time of the nominations, many reactions deplored the absence of women in the best director category. In response, the Cleopatra Prize, exclusively female, rewarded Saint-Omer by Alice Diop (audience award) and Other people’s children by Rebecca Zlotowski (Jury Prize). The Alice Guy prize, created in 2018, also exclusively female, was awarded to See Paris againby Alice Winocour.

8:38 p.m. : As Juliette Binoche has just said in a serious and solemn tone, this 48th Cesar ceremony is dedicated to the Ukrainian people, who have been suffering for a year and the beginning of the Russian invasion.

8:26 p.m. : A quick reminder of last year’s winners. It is lost illusions by Xavier Giannoli, who emerged as the big winner with 7 Césars, including Best Film, Best Supporting Actor for Vincent Lacoste and Best Male Newcomer, awarded to Benjamin Voisin.

8:22 p.m. : We will watch for the introduction of these masters of ceremonies, who will set the tone for the evening. Among those that made an impression, we will obviously remember that of Valérie Lemercier and her tribute to Zouk Machine. But I have a weakness for the sketch, in 2001, by Edouard Baer and Alain Chabat. The latter, arriving late, thought of resuming the role he had held the previous year.

8:21 p.m. : To liven up the evening, to snatch real laughter more than embarrassed smiles, and to break a sometimes very, very hard ice, the Académie des César and Canal+ have bet on a collective of masters of ceremonies rather than an individuality. They are nine: Leïla Bekhti, Jérôme Commandeur, Jamel Debbouze, Emmanuelle Devos, Léa Drucker, Eye Haïdara, Alex Lutz, Raphaël Personnaz and Ahmed Sylla.

8:12 p.m. : We will already recall the main favorites: The Innocent by Louis Garrel is ahead, with 11 nominations, The Night of 12 by Dominik Moll (10 nominations). If you ask me my opinion, I admit leaning towards the thriller of the director who was Caesarized in 2001 for Harry, a friend who wishes you well. Here is the list of all nominations.

8:09 p.m. : Good evening Thomas, I actually put on my alpaca tuxedo. Good evening everyone, I’m going to make you live this 48th Cesar ceremony. It is to be watched from 8:45 p.m. in the clear on Canal +, but also to follow in this live. Let’s go.

8:05 p.m. : Tonight, French cinema is organizing its big annual ceremony, the Césars. Benoît Jourdain, who donned his finest tuxedo for the occasion, joins us in this live broadcast to comment on the evening. Hello Benoit!
