Three months to the day before the Euro kicks off in Germany, the Blues are back. Didier Deschamps is preparing to announce his list of 23 players selected to challenge Chile and Germany, Thursday March 14 at the headquarters of the French Football Federation in Paris. Even if a large part of the group is identified, some gray areas remain for this last gathering before the European Championship.
The Euro in sight
These two friendlies against Germany, on March 23 in Lyon, then against Chile, on March 26 in Marseille, constitute one of the last crossing points before the Euro, from June 14 to July 14. Other friendly matches are to be expected before the first match of the European Championship, on June 17 against Austria. But the dates and identity of the opponents have not been revealed.
First for Barcola?
One absentee is already known compared to the latest list, in November 2023: Kingsley Coman, injured in the knee at the end of January. Will Didier Deschamps make room for a new kid? Highly visible with PSG, where he won his starting place, the young Bradley Barcola (21 years old) could be called up for the first time in his career.
Zaire-Emery once again expected
Barely of age, Parisian prodigy Warren Zaire-Emery is expected despite the returns from injury of Aurélien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, absent in November. The midfielder made his mark against Gibraltar (14-0) by scoring his first international goal, but was injured in the same action. Can he find his way among the usual starters? Didier Deschamps should be questioned about this.
