United Kingdom: foie gras soon banned?

The Labor Party has pledged in Britain to ban imports of foie gras if it wins the next election in July.

In the United Kingdom, geese and ducks live royal lives. Force-feeding and the production of foie gras have been banned since 2009. But a new blow to the cordial understanding between France and England could occur. The country could ban imports of foie gras. This is an electoral promise from the Labor camp, favorite in the polls. Nine out of 10 Britons are in favor. “It seems logical to me. I don’t want to find foie gras on my plate,” explains a passerby. “It won’t be missed. I only eat it when I travel to France, but not to England”assures another.

However, real amateurs have their habits in French grocery stores and the announcement of a possible ban hits harder than a liver attack. Animal rights activists in Britain have long campaigned for a ban on foie gras, obtained by force-feeding geese and ducks.
