Oscar Fuentes specialist in the Paleolithic and research engineer at the National Center of Prehistory in Périgueux, helps a student in a study exercise through techniques used in the scientific community. These various practices and this methodology make it possible to know the means available to researchers now, and those which they may need in the future, to determine where the traces discovered in the decorated caves come from. A meticulous and in-depth work helped by the very latest technologies in terms of software and shooting. The objective remains to determine whether these traces are those of humans or those of animals. With regard to the parietal paintings, it will also be necessary to determine the why of certain forms, is it due to the wall on which it was necessary to adapt or is it due to the specific morphology of the animal, there is the question? The student will have to push the investigations and proceed by elimination, to make a precise and detailed report which can then be validated, or not, by her peers.
