Hurricane Milton left 16 dead and caused widespread damage in Florida, in the wake of violent winds and rising waters.

From east to west of Florida (United States), roads and entire neighborhoods are submerged, as if the sea had taken over the land. The owner of a house, surrounded by water, declares: “I cried. But God saved us. It goes all the way to my couch, it’s really dramatic.” A little further away, others are hastily evacuated on boats. Around a thousand people were rescued.

Houses are devastated. A woman escaped the worst. The roof flew off and the windows of her house were blown out, even while she was inside. “It was like a movie, the winds were swirling all around us. So we ran into this bathroom to get shelter.” Milton is the second hurricane in just two weeks. It is particularly trying for Floridians. Others are relieved, because it was not as powerful as advertised.
