If some brothers and sisters bicker, especially when they are famous, Florent and Laure Manaudou were able to draw their strength from their striking complicity. It must be said that between them, the duo ended up generating a significant prize list in swimming.
For Laure Manaudou, things really started in 2004 when she won her first medals at the Olympic Games in Athens. She was then 17 years old. Eighteen years later, the athlete continues to fascinate even if she has since given up her career, unlike her little brother, who is four years younger than her (Editor’s note: Laura is 35, Florent 31). As a reminder, the companion of Jérémy Frerot gave up his sports career in 2008 before returning in 2012 for the London Olympics to remedy the failure swept away during the events in Beijing. It is for her three children that the sportswoman has decided to stop everything.
With such a strict profession and sporting discipline, you have to know how to find a balance. Having very high goals and doing things that weren’t in line with themselves,” he confided. And the first example that comes to mind is of course his big sister. “I saw my sister very happy. I saw my sister very sad too,” he added. The young man then returned to a fault that many athletes have: “You have the impression that being a top athlete, you have to be one hundred percent all the time. No athlete can remain perfect like that”. Fortunately, the duo was able to support each other and avoid sinking. Florent Manaudou has taken up the torch rather well.
When it comes to their relationship, Florent Manaudou isn’t ashamed to say his sister is above him. For him, he will never have the first place on the podium in his siblings. “My sister made a much bigger impression than me. I’m very proud to be the number two in the family and my sister’s little brother”, he revealed on the set of We are live. At least, this confirms that there was never any competition within the family!
