To calm the anger of farmers, Emmanuel Macron announced floor prices, which would guarantee better remuneration for each agricultural sector. On the other hand, buyers and manufacturers do not really support this option.
Many farmers work extended weeks to take care of their cows with income that is not always commensurate with the work done. To ensure a better income for farmers, Emmanuel Macron announced, Saturday February 24 during the Agricultural Show, a floor price. It is a minimum price which includes all production costs, it is a long-standing demand of the Peasant Confederation.
A law at European level
The idea is to define a floor price in all sectors: milk, sheep and beef. But there are fears that mass distribution or manufacturers are still not playing the game. But this mechanism must be created at European level so as not to create distortion of competition. France therefore wishes to propose a new law, at national and European level.
