(Montreal) The tension regarding the risk of flooding has dropped a notch in southwestern Quebec thanks to favorable weather.
On the one hand, the precipitation has been lower than what was initially expected at the start of the week and, on the other hand, the fall in mercury is slowing down the snowmelt.
No major flooding is reported in Quebec this Wednesday and Civil Security reports only five places where there are average floods.
Three of them are located in Lanaudière and were caused by Lake Maskinongé in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, the Ouareau River in Rawdon and the L’Assomption River in Joliette.
The other two are the result of overflows from the Rivière du Nord in Saint-Jérôme in the Laurentians and the Rivière Saint-Charles in Quebec City.
There are also reports of 18 minor floods, mainly in the Outaouais, Montreal, Laurentides and Lanaudière regions, and 22 other rivers across the province are under surveillance.
