Floods in Nova Scotia | A body and human remains have been found

(Halifax) The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Nova Scotia say they have found the body of one of those who went missing over the weekend during massive flooding in the province.

Police say they have found the body of a 52-year-old man.

Officials say they also found human remains in another part of the search area and are working with medical examiners for identification.

Four people, including two children, were reported missing on Saturday when the two vehicles they were traveling in were submerged in the West Hants Regional Municipality, northwest of Halifax.

A series of thunderstorms that began on Friday and extended into the following day dumped up to 250 millimeters of rain across parts of the province, washing away roads and bridges and causing widespread damage.

Provincial officials said 25 bridges were hit, with 19 damaged and six destroyed. At least 50 roads suffered major damage.
